
Rebalancing the Design
- There is space to reduce efficiency at light load, but efficiency at high load must go up
- Rebalance the transformer to increase core losses (contrary to conventional wisdom) but decrease winding losses
- Reduce conduction losses in the inductor by decreasing winding length
- Increase switching frequency to reduce "RMS factor" (see App. Note) - the amount by which RMS current is larger than the average output current.
