Three advanced options are hidden by default until you click the Show Advanced Options button on the SIMPLIS Options dialog as shown below for the MOSFETs.
To curve fit the forward transfer characteristics, the algorithm draws a straight line based on the model:
The default values and descriptions of these advanced options are listed in the table below.
Option | Default Value | Description
Peak curve fit point | 1 | Expressed as the ratio of peak drain current (MOSFET and JFET) or peak collector current (IGBT).
Minimum curve fit point | 333.333m
Maximum instantaneous power dissipation | Model | Value | Units | The model extraction algorithms use the Maximum instantaneous power dissipation specification to determine the maximum current rating of the device. The device is tested fully enhanced, and the drain or collector current is swept up to the specification value from the Extraction dialog. If the Maximum instantaneous power dissipation is reached at a current lower than the specified current, the Extraction current is reduced to a current which produces a power dissipation equal to the specified Maximum instantaneous power dissipation. |
MOSFET | 100 | W | ||
IGBT | 200 | W | ||
JFET | 100 | W |
